Social media is a huge part of everyday life and for many women, so is beauty. Women will often look to social media for the most updated trends, products and beauty news. Use this to your brand’s advantage! Here are some top tips to optimize your beauty brand’s social media:
1. A Picture Says a Thousand Words
This common phrase is especially true when it comes to social media. Audiences want to know all kinds of information about a product and they want it fast. With word and character limits on many social media outlets, it can be hard to express this all in a post. However, a picture can show the audience what a product looks like, how it’s used, options of colors or styles and more! One quality photo and a brief caption is all you need to show your client how awesome your product or company is. ELLE Magazine's Senior Beauty and Fashion writer Julie Schott displays this in the Instagram post above. The picture and the brief caption explain to us that these are a part of her collection of beauty products, what she pairs together, what the product packaging looks like and what some of them look like inside the packaging!
2. Mix it Up
Looking at the same posts everyday on a newsfeed can become repetitive for an audience. Keep your followers interested by varying your posts. Instead of just posting about the same products over and over, switch it up like First and Last PR client CLEANSE By Lauren Napier did in the Instagram post above! While one day you may feature the newest product, the next day you could feature a look that uses your most popular products or a blogger who may have reviewed your brand. Posts that include inspirational quotes, a favorite designer or even a beautiful design are also great options. Another great way to mix it up? Have a guest, such as a popular beauty blogger, make your social media posts for the week. These posts will be unique and interesting for your followers. Your options are endless so be creative and have fun!
3. Be Consistent
Though your social media platforms need variety in some aspects, they also need to be consistent in others. When it comes to how frequently you post you want to keep it on a schedule. You don’t want to post four times one day and then not post at all for the next three days. Posting three times daily is typically a good rule of thumb. Creating and maintaining a content calendar, like the one above, can help keep your posts consistent and organized! Keeping the language of your posts consistent is important too. There may be multiple employees making posts on the same outlet, but you don’t want your audience to know that. Identify your brand’s audience and a voice that is true to your company and stick to it!
